One Question for God
I think Russell is completely justified on this one. Not to put God down, but He doesn't exactly make Himself too easy to see/hear/hear/understand.
I had a conversation with a friend recently and he would agree with Russell, saying "God cannot exist because there is no evidence." Honestly, I feel like He and I stand in the exact same spot. The only difference is faith. With faith, I am able to look beyond the lack of direct evidence, without faith he is not.
He stands on this earth wearing a blindfold, I stand on the earth slowly learning to undo my blindfold.

that was a really interesting article. i struggle with that question a lot actually...especially when i was in gr 9, didn't know God, I would lie in bed hoping for some kind of miracle and would always say "God, if you exist, and i want you to exist, give me some kind of sign or proof". Nothing really showed itself til gr 10 or so, or maybe i just wasn't looking.
ReplyDeleteI guess the hard thing is that atheists have "lots" of proof found in science, and that faith has no scientific proof. I think even the idea of God is too big for some people, and the idea of giving yourself to something/one that you've never met in person is too scary.
i struggle with this argument all the time with my dad. it's frustrating.
I struggle with this as well - coming up with "proof" because I know that God is explained within the unexplainable. There was a comment under the article that said something about God not being logically possible, but whoever said that everything needed an explanation? And that's exactly where the hardest proof of God lies - in the unexplainable. And it's more than just the feeling of faith, it's exactly like you've described it - learning to see the things that are often overlooked - taking off the blindfold and realizing that we are not the biggest things on this earth, that there's something greater.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing that article. Very thought-provoking!
